Beyond Bath: Palestine, stories of displacement, dignity, and hope

By Bath Welcomes Refugees

Overview

A series of events designed to raise awareness of the realities beyond our borders, through authentic and inspiring stories of migration.

The story of Palestine is also a story of displacement, of generations living in exile, of families separated, and of communities rebuilding their lives again and again in the face of ongoing conflict.

In this Beyond Bath, we'll hear stories and reflections from people with lived experience of displacement and from those working to support Palestinian refugees on the ground. Together, we'll explore both the root causes and the consequences of the conflict, what daily life looks like for Palestinians today, what it means to live in exile, and the realities that humanitarian agencies face when trying to deliver aid.

We'll also reflect on solidarity and hope: what a just future for Palestine looks like, and how we, as individuals, communities, and organisations in the UK, can stand alongside those affected.

This will be a space for listening, learning, and dialogue, one that centres dignity, compassion, and the power of stories to help us understand and connect.

About the panellists:

Ahmed Abu Aisha: Ahmed is from Palestine and is now based in the UK. He has over five years of experience coordinating impactful projects for international donors and is deeply committed to empowering vulnerable women and children. His work focuses on creating sustainable change for marginalised communities, particularly in conflict-affected areas.

We're still confirming additional panellists, please keep an eye out for updates.

About Beyond Bath Talks

Beyond Bath Talks is a series designed to raise awareness of global realities through the voices of migrants, refugees, and activists, all working towards a more inclusive society.

One of our past speakers, Hiba from Sudafest, said:

“It’s been an honour to be part of this panel and to share such a meaningful discussion with my fellow panellists. Reflecting on my own story and hearing others—from Ukraine to Latin America—has been powerful. The questions were thoughtful, the conversations deep, and at a time when these stories matter more than ever, it’s vital to keep shedding light on our diverse journeys and voices.”
