Overview

Make a window that makes a statement! This beveled lighthouse will sure to sparkle in any window

THIS CLASS IS A 4-DAY CLASS. IT WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY EVENINGS

In this class you will learn how to make a stained glass window from start to finish. The panel will measure approx. 14" x 18". There will be color choices of glass to choose from for the background. The lighthouse and border will be pre-cut bevels. All materials provided.

This class will be a great beginners class for someone who wants to get more involved in making stained glass windows and is up for a challenge. Or for someone with stained glass experience and wants to put their skills to the test.

During the 4-day 3 ½ hour sessions you will learn how to score and break glass, learn what tools are needed to make a window from beginning to end, cut out pattern pieces, grind glass pieces to fit into a blocked pattern, foil, solder, add brass came around the edges, add hooks, patina (if desired), clean, and final step…wax.

Day 1March 2nd: Get to know the tools that are needed to make a stained glass window. Learn how to score and break glass, block in a pattern, cut out pattern pieces, cut glass pieces, and start to grind glass to fit into the blocked pattern.

Day 2 March 9th: Finish grinding the glass to fit into your blocked pattern (if not finished in day 1), and start foiling each piece. The foiling that does not get done in class can be taken home to finish or finish foiling in day 3.

Day 3 March 16th: Finish foiling and/or start soldering the foiled project. If solder is finished on this day then the brass came can be attached around the edges, adding the hooks on the side for hanging, patina if desired, and then last step clean and wax.

Day 4 March 23rd: Finish what has not been able to be completed in the previous days. Everyone works at a different pace. There is no rush on finishing the project in day 3.

Please wear closed-in toe shoes and be 18 years or older.

There will be prolonged standing and safety glasses {supplied} will be required to be worn at all times.

Due to working with glass and a soldering iron, there will be a Release of Liability waiver that needs to be signed before class begins.

There is more involved with a 3-day class than a one 4-hour class. There is lots to learn while having fun creating a stained glass piece that will be able to get hung up and enjoyed for years.
