This webinar will explore the challenges of operating workplaces with a public interaction component in the COVID-19 environment. These facilities are complex environments and include museums, cafeterias, gift shops, commissaries, and post offices. Invited speaker Dr. Nancy Burton from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health will discuss how to physically prepare facilities for reopening and operations. Invited speaker Ms. Robin Coyne, CIH from Spike Occupational Health & Safety, LLC will discuss the practical considerations that will arise when the public begins entering a facility.

Speaker Bios

Dr. Nancy Burton has worked for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)/National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) for 29 years conducting health hazard evaluations. She has a Ph.D. in Environmental Health from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine and an M.P.H. and an M.S. from the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry. She is also a certified industrial hygienist. Her research interests include the evaluation and control of potential exposures dealing with microbial agents in the workplace environment. She has been involved in developing workplace guidance for different outbreaks including H1N1 and COVID-19.

Ms. Robin Coyne is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and a Registered Occupational Hygienist (Canada). Ms. Coyne is the principal of Spike Occupational Health & Safety, LLC, where she offers industrial hygiene and safety consulting services and training. She is also a part-time continuing education instructor at William Rainey Harper College. Previously, Ms. Coyne was the director of health, safety, and environment for Central Garden & Pet, an innovator, marketer, and producer of quality branded products for consumer and professional use in the lawn and garden and pet supplies markets. Ms. Coyne had also managed health and safety programs for RR Donnelley, Senior Flexonics, and G.D. Searle. She earned a B.S. in biomedical engineering in 1977 from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. in 1987 from Roosevelt University.
