Behind the Page: In Conversation with Arthur Jafa and Justen LeRoy

By Art + Practice

Overview

Join us as we welcome artist and filmmaker, Arthur Jafa and multidisciplinary sound artist Justen LeRoy for a conversation.

Join us in shifting the frame of what’s popularly known as “Black Friday.” Traditionally, this post-holiday frenzy is a consumerist rush to acquire more material goods. Our intention, however, is to reclaim this as a space for communion, conversation, and cultural presence. Therefore, our event will be about amplifying Black voices in dialogue.

Artist and filmmaker, Arthur Jafa will be joined by multidisciplinary sound artist, Justen LeRoy for an intergenerational conversation centered around Jafa’s latest catalogue, Live Evil. This catalogue explores the wide range of Jafa’s practice, including historical, philosophical, and artistic offerings, through essays and conversations.

This program is presented by Art + Practice and LORE Leimert Park as part of the Behind the Page program series, introduced by Tariq Nasir Grissom.
