About this event
Learn the basic cuts for whittling while making a pointy-hat, bearded man. This two hour class will emphasize safety and the methods for keeping your tools sharp. Everyone works at a unique pace, so you may or may not finish the carving during the class time, but you will have the knowledge to continue working on the project on your own. Class fee includes materials. Students may bring their own carving knife or one will be available to use in the class. Additionally, participants are strongly encouraged to bring or purchase cut-resistant gloves. Other safety options will be discussed and made available during class. All class participants receive a 15% discount on merchandise purchased in the store on the same day of their class. Exclusions apply. Students should come properly attired for a woodworking class (tight fitting clothing, long hair restrained and constrained from the face); and bring or wear provided industry standard hearing protection and safety glasses during equipment operation. All woodworking classes are held in a store that sells a wide variety of woods, including exotic woods such as cedar, aromatic cedar and other products (e.g., finishes, cleaners, etc.) that may cause allergic or other reactions in a small number of cases. Each student should carefully consider their health and reaction to products around them when signing up for this or any of the Rockler woodworking classes.
