12:30pm – 2pm.
Who: Ages 9+ (children under 12 will need supervision)
Miss the start of the course? No problem we're still accepting new registrations.
20 ukuleles will be on hand to use but those signing up in advance for the course will be given preference to available instruments.
Every week we'll learn new chords and/or strumming techniques and build upon the skills from the previous week so the earlier you start attending and the more frequently you attend, the more skilled you'll be by the end of the Summer!
If you have a ukulele and would like to join us for a refresher course, register to let me know you're coming.
If you would just like to come and enjoy a sing-a-long in the garden please join us.
You do not need to know how to read music.
The Forest Gate Community Garden is equipped with accessibility paths for those with mobility needs.
Photographs and video will be taken during these sessions by the garden and possibly other people in the class that could be used for promotional or marketing purposes for further funding so we can continue to offer programming at no cost to the participant. Registering for this class means you consent to your photo/video being taken and used for these purposes.
Beginning Ukulele Classes with Misty Dampier are possible with generous public funding by Arts Council England with National Lottery Project Grants.
Frequently asked questions
No. We have 20 ukuleles for use during class to those who are registered. If you have your own please bring it! As with anything repetition and practice will lead to proficiency so being able to practice your newly learned skills at home definitely helps!
No! This class is for the absolute beginner.
Thanks to generous public funding by Arts Council England with National Lottery Project Grants there is no cost to participants.
Class is open to 9yrs +. Children under 12yrs will need to be accompanied by an adult. Why not sign up and learn together!
Sure! The class is aimed at the true beginner and will be paced according. If you don't mind the refresher and helping a beginner out occasionally, you are more than welcome to join!
The class is designed to build upon skills learned each week so the earlier you come and the more you come you'll get the most benefit. You can catch up with 1-2 missed lessons but more than that may be a challenge.
While my dog Ellie loves hearing me play, dogs (except service animals) are not allowed in the community garden. There is a resident cat that comes in and out of the garden at will and may make an appearance. My dog will be filing a complaint about the unfairness. :)
Yes, but at 12:40am I will need to reallocate your reserved ukulele to someone waiting, so don't be late! :)
Unfortunately ukuleles are only for in class use. Purchasing a ukulele for home use is a great investment if you would like to practice during the week.
Yes, please. This helps me figure out numbers and how many ukuleles we have to loan out.
