Description
This class is a full-day, inquiry based and discussion focused hands-on educational opportunity, centered on the basics of raising a variety of sheep breeds in our region using regenerative agricultural practices. We cover a wide variety of topics, including but not limited to choosing the right sheep breed for your farm, basic sheep handling, housing, fencing, nutrition, health and healthcare basics; what managed grazing looks like and developing your own pasture based management program; connecting with a mentor and community resources; value-added sheep products and marketing.
Lambing and breeding are not covered in this class, we offer separate educational opportunities that center on these topics.
We ask that you bring a lunch and beverage, comfortable chair for sitting outdoors, and note taking supplies. Come dressed appropriately for an outdoor, farm-centered workshop, no open toed shoes.
A packet of basic information and list of resources will be provided the day of the course.
Need based scholarships are available for this course. Please contact the farm for more information.
