To make this workshop more accessible, I’ll be teaching it via Zoom this fall — so teens (14+) and adults can join not only in Ashland, but from anywhere.
Over 10 weeks, we’ll explore story structure, character creation, and dialogue that comes alive. Each participant will finish a 10-minute play — and we’ll celebrate with a live showcase reading at the end of the course.

This Beginning Playwriting Workshop is a 10-week course Online via Zoom! (Oct 7 – Dec 16, 2025).

We begin with character creation, story structure, and dialogue, and build a 10-minute play out of an initial scene. Through an exploration of Freytag, the Hero’s Journey, cyclical storytelling, and mythology, a simple plot will take shape. Careful observation of humans in all their perfections and flaws will people that story, and our words and actions will bring it to life. With in-depth discussions and opportunities for one-on-one mentoring, the process will be both fun and accessible.
