Beginner's Slow Stitching

Beginner's Slow Stitching

By Gorman Heritage Farm

Overview

Discover the calming, creative world of slow stitching!

Slow stitching is a meditative, hand-sewing practice that involves using bits and pieces of fabric, ribbon, lace, buttons, and other upcycled or salvaged to create pieces of fabric art. It focuses on the joy of creating rather than a perfect outcome. It is an opportunity to slow down, to be creative, where you get to make something with your hands and just enjoy that process.

In this instructor-led, 2-hour workshop, you will learn simple embroidery stitches on fabric scraps to make a special heart shape ready for Valentine’s Day! We’ll provide everything you need, including donated and repurposed materials such as needles, thread, fabric, ribbon, and even broken jewelry. You’re also welcome to bring your own sewing basket or any favorite fabric pieces, trims, or small charms to personalize your heart.

Stay after class to finish your project, ask questions, sip hot tea, and mingle with other creative members of your community.

Join us for a fun morning to learn a new crafting skill or to reintroduce yourself to hand stitching.

This class is not suitable for children under 13 and requires confidence with fine motor skills and simple knots.
