Learn how to crochet a cozy Granny Square Balaclava in our Beginners Crochet Course!

Who you are: Someone who wants to learn how to crochet or someone who knows how to crochet and wants to join us to make a balaclava project!

Class Structure: This is a 5-week course hosted on Mondays from 6-8pm. See curriculum below if interested. If you do not compelte your balaclava no fret! We host our Stitch & Bitch Accounibility Group every Monday and you can come to finish with Keelin's help if needed.

This course's classes are: Monday January 5th, January 12th, January 19th, January 26th and February 2nd.


What to Bring:

A notebook

3 Colors of medium weight acrylic, cotton, or wool yarn.

Everything is included except students need to bring their own yarn. We would usually provide, but we wanted to allow attendees to customize their yarn colors. We suggest to buy your yarn secondhand at the Creative Reuse Center or a thrift store. If you want to buy new we suggest Michaels, Wool and the Gang or any craft store.

Balaclava Crochet Pattern


Outcomes: You'll leave this class with basic crochet skills to use on future projects and a completed balaclava. We highly encourage graduates of this course to continue coming on Mondays to our Stitch & Bitch Accountability Club.

Meet your teacher Keelin Maloney

Keelin is a Providence native, textile lover, and host of our knitting club! She has a background in hand knitting, machine knitting, weaving and natural dyeing. Her years in fine art school have lead her to create knit collections and participate in local sustainable fashion projects.
