Frequently asked questions

Do I need any Martial Arts experience?

No you do not. This program is specially for anyone who does not have any Martial Arts experience.

What should I wear/bring?

Wear comfortable clothing which allows for freedom of movement. For example, a t-shirt and sweat pants are fine to start. No jeans or shorts please. Also, bring water to hydrate yourself.

What is the goal of the program?

We want you to experience the joy of Aikido and cultivate confidence in yourself with a supportive training community. By learning foundational body movement, ukemi (falling/rolling), striking attacks, and etiquette, you'll be prepared to join regular classes to further develop your skills.

Do I need to attend both Sundays & Wednesdays through out the program?

Every Sunday12 PM-12:45 PM & Wednesday 7PM-8PM are classes scheduled for beginners. Although it is encouraged to attend both days, it is not necessary. You are welcome to come train on any day that works well for you based on our training schedule. We'll still train based on your experience.

Will I be ready to test for my first rank test after the program?

This program only covers foundational applications in the span of 8-weeks. To be competent in Aikido, it is recommended to consistently train 3-days out of the week. Although it is possible to be ready within the 8-week timeframe, the Chief Instructor determines if the student is ready to test.

What are my enrollment options for the program?

The enrollment fee for the program is $100. Otherwise you can pay $20 per class or $35 weekly. Since the program is automatically available to Daiyuzenji members (daiyuzenji.org/transformative-practices), you can become a member for $60 per month. Email: AikidoKenshinDojo@gmail.com for inquiries.
