Do I need to bring a Mahjong set?

Nope! We'll have all the Mahjong gear ready to use - tiles, racks, and teaching materials.  If you have your own National Mahjong League Card (NMJL) card, feel free to bring it. Otherwise we'll have some available to borrow.

I've played Mahjong online already.  Is this the same thing?

Probably not.  Many Mahjong apps use the tiles for matching-style games rather than the traditional American Mahjong format.  The tiles might look a little bit familiar, but the actual gameplay is quite different.

Do I need to bring a group to attend?

Not at all!  You can register on your own or with friends.  We'll seat everyone in groups for play - it's a great way to meet new people while learning a new game.  If you are coming with a group, please arrive early if you want to be sure to sit together.

I've never played before - is this for me?

Absolutely!  This session is designed for beginners.  You'll learn the basics step-by-step and get plenty of practice time with guidance and encouragement.
