Beginner Bookbinding Workshop
Overview
During this workshop you will learn two of the most useful and easy bookbinding techniques: pamphlet stitch & soft cover long stitch("limp bound book")
You will receive hands on education as the instructor Thayer Bray will take you step by step through each sewing and binding method.At the end of the class you will have two handmade books that you bound yourself! Along with a handy instruction manual to help you along with future independent book projects.
Supplies:Thayer will provide paper, card stock, thread, needles, a very few awls and folding tools, and a very small amount of buckram. All neccesary materials

*This class requires moderate hand strength and a dexterity.
Thayer N.G. Bray is a draw-er, printmaker, bookbinder, and sculptor based in Kansas City. He earned a BFA in printmaking and a minor in Art History from KU in 2009 and an MBA from UMKC in 2023. For almost a decade he was shop assistant, then edition printer, at the Lawrence Lithography Workshop in Kansas City, MO. His last solo show, Caregivers, was exhibited in May 2023 in Kansas City. He is the Director of Exhibitions at Kansas City Artists Coalition, and the owner and director of Greenhouse Print Space, Greehouse Print Space is an artist-run, community access print studio in Kansas City. GPS has the largest collection of presses and print equipment outside of academia in the KC region, and offers access passes, studio spaces, classes and workshops, and a monthly, free to attend Print Club.
