This workshop will address the vital importance of completing advance directives including a Living Will and a Medical Durable Power of Attorney in a timely and pro-active fashion for individuals and families impacted by dementia. We will explore the concept of “decisional capacity” as it relates to the disease process, and why it’s crucial for people living with dementia to discuss and document their wishes for future medical care before the window of opportunity closes.
The workshop will be facilitated by Kay Adams—Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Compassion Works, LLC. Kay is a dementia coach, educator, writer, speaker and trainer. Compassion Works engages care partners and organizations impacted by dementia through coaching, consulting, education and training, so they are empowered to effectively face challenges with confidence, clarity, and connection.
