DESCRIPTION: This course provides an in-depth exploration of building enclosure performance in line with ASHRAE 90.1-2019, equipping participants with the skills to navigate various compliance options and execute accurate U-factor calculations for framed wall assemblies. Learners will identify and correct common errors in thermal performance reporting while gaining a comprehensive understanding of the design, installation, and verification requirements for continuous air barriers. Additionally, the course delves into Building Enclosure Commissioning procedures and thermal bridging calculations, along with the mitigation detailing strategies necessary to optimize building energy efficiency and durability.


PRESENTER:

Lyle Axelarris, has pioneered high-performance building enclosure design solutions since 2010. He has worked on many projects in cold climates, with a particular focus on challenging special use and high-performance buildings. He is highly knowledgeable in WUFI and THERM modeling in support of assembly design and detailing. He has extensive experience with investigations and repair of enclosure failures related to air leakage. Using a comprehensive and practical approach, Lyle confirms the constructability and integrity of the enclosure. Using his experience as a journeyman carpenter, he works with contractors to provide proper implementation and troubleshooting to ensure building performance.
