Thankfully most hikes go as planned, but we’ve all heard the stories about what could go wrong on a hike: What should you do if you encounter bears, snakes, or even an aggressive dog? Did I just rub up against poison ivy or some other plant with three leaves?

Most issues can be prevented by heading out with a little knowledge and a good plan. In this workshop, among other things, we’ll be discussing actual animal encounters and covering how to handle those types of animal encounters if they happen to you, what lightweight backup water filter and shelter to carry, and introduce you to an amazing hike planning app to ensure there are no surprises on the trail. This workshop will give you a taste of both our 4-hour Hiking Gear Essentials course and our 4-hour Hiking Basics & Safety course.

Note: This is a 3-hour workshop and not a certification course.
