BATHHOUSE SPECIAL CLASS - INTRODUCTION TO SUZUKI ACTING METHOD @STUDIOS 353
Overview
Getting Out of Your Head and Back into Your Body
An Introduction to the Suzuki Acting Method
with Mikayla Czizik
Join us for a special Bathclass led by guest teacher Mikayla Czizik, introducing actors to the foundations of the Suzuki acting method as a way to reconnect body, breath, and impulse while working with heightened text.
This class focuses on releasing habitual tension, stepping out of overly intellectualized line readings, and grounding performance in physical presence. Through structured physical work and guided text exploration, actors learn to approach classical material without forcing emotion or playing preconceived ideas of a scene.
Participants will work with a short excerpt from Dante (provided), as well as a memorized heightened classical text of their choice (under one minute). Shakespeare, Molière, and Greek tragedy are especially encouraged. The emphasis is on balancing rigor with ease - allowing action and impulse to arise naturally from a centered, grounded body.
This class is open to all levels and is ideal for actors looking to strengthen physical awareness, deepen connection to heightened language, and develop a more embodied, impulse-driven performance practice.
Come ready to work, listen, and rediscover the power of presence through the body.
