The Basics series classes run 1-2 hours and cover basic safety and operations of tool and/or equipment instruction. This will provide all the information needed to be certified on using the equipment at Lacey MakerSpace. For more in-depth project based hands-on instruction, we offer workshops and one-on-one mentoring.
Basic classes are always free for LMS members, with the exception of our BASICS: Hands on Welding course. (We ask for donation to cover the consumable material, but is not required).
This BASICS Virtual Welding course is virtual simulation only. This immersive experience is very similar to real-life welding. Learning how to operate the VRTEX simulator will allow you to use the machine on your own time during our open hours so that you can perfect your welding techniques before moving onto your physical project. This class is optional and not required for taking our Hands-on Welding class.

Individuals are welcome to sign up for multiple Basics classes until they feel confident on the equipment.
Closed-toe shoes required. Ages 12 to 18 welcome with gaurdian.
Starting July 19th 2025 we will be instituting a $10 no-show fee for LMS members who don't show up for the classes they sign up for. These fees will be charged to the card we have on file. This fee is being instituted because we have had a pattern of members not showing up to our classes. Our classes have a limited amount of slots and we want to serve as many attendees as possible.

Class refund policy:
- 7 calendar days or more before the class start date: Refunds will be given, minus a 10% service fee (Eventbrite fees non-refundable)
- 6 calendar days to 2 days before class start date: Refunds, minus a 10% service fee, will be issued in the form of a credit voucher to be applied to a future offering within 1-year of the issue date.
- No refunds issued within 48 hours of any class offering.
