Basics of Trauma Informed Care & Motivational Interviewing
Overview
Join us for a free, hands-on workshop designed for frontline staff who work directly with clients and communities. In this 90-minute session, we’ll explore the fundamentals of Trauma-Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing—two evidence-based approaches that help you build trust, reduce resistance, and support meaningful behavior change. You’ll learn how trauma can affect engagement and communication, and how simple shifts in language and approach can strengthen relationships and improve outcomes.
This session is part presentation, part discussion, and part activity. You’ll leave with a foundational understanding of both frameworks, practical tools you can use right away, and guidance on how to continue learning and applying these principles in your work.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, November 19th from 9:30–11:00 a.m. in the main meeting room at the Ferndale Library (2125 Main St, Ferndale, WA). Parking is available onsite, and the facility is fully wheelchair accessible. Space is limited—please reserve your spot in advance.
This workshop is free thanks to Ferndale Community Services! You can learn more about them and their mission here: https://ferndalecs.org/
