Basics of Hand Embroidery
Overview
The instructor will teach students beginning stitches of hand embroidery, stretching canvas across an embroidery loop, and embroidery thread and needle basics. Students will be provided with a simple design that they will embroider and finish on their own later. All supplies provided.
About the Instructor, Heather: Heater is an elementary school teacher who has been embroidering for her own enjoyment for many years.
Our sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy, which owns and operates the NE Seattle and Shoreline tool libraries. Please choose the level that best fits your family’s income.
ACCESSIBILITY:
- Much of the NE Seattle Tool Library interior is wheelchair accessible. All entrances have ramps that may exceed a 5 degree slope. The all-gender restroom is quite small and not ADA compliant.
- Non-English and ASL interpreters are not provided at our classes and events, however attendees are welcome to bring their own interpreters.
- Please contact us with any accessibility notes or requests.
GETTING THERE:
- By transit: Served by King County Metro bus route 372 stopping along Lake City Way NE at NE 98th St. Route 61 stops at NE Northgate Way & 23rd Ave NE and is a ½ mile walk from the tool library.
- By bike: There are multiple bicycle route options available to the tool library, and you are welcome to stow your bicycle inside the tool library during your visit.
- Car parking: There is a gravel parking lot that fits about 10 cars, and an asphalt parking lot that fits 5 cars. There is no ADA accessible parking.
