BASICS: 2D Design for Stained Glass Patterns

By Lacey MakerSpace

Overview

Come learn the basics of 2D design for stained glass patterns with instructor James Dietrich. Bring your own laptop with Inkscape installed!

Bring your computer and learn how to use Inkscape software for designing stained glass projects. We will focus on project layout, image tracing techniques, and modifying designs to create patterns and templates ready to cut-out and assemble.

In this course we will introduce you the basic tools and operations in the free, open source software Inkscape (www.inkscape.org), guiding you from a blank page to a pattern ready for making. In the second half of the course, there will be time for questions and help with project ideas. Instruction on stained glass and how to use stained glass tools outside of 2D Design will not be part of this course.

REQUIRED: Bring your own laptop and have Inkscape downloaded. Download for free here.

Attendees need to bring a laptop computer to work alongside the instructor. Inkscape is free and available on all of the LMS computers in the digital lab for use during open hours outside of class time.

**Closed toe shoes are required. Ages 12 and up can attend. Attendees under the age of 18 must have a guardian present at all times.
