Basically Wonderful Birthday Bash!

We're celebrating FIVE years of Basically Wonderful!! Join us for our Birthday Bash on January 11th from 5-9PM for a community food prep + a party with games and a Karaoke Roulette Competition!

Let’s help feed our community! From 5-7PM, we’ll be preparing meals to be delivered to the 24/7 free neighborhood fridge & pantry on Parramore Ave. Help us prep ingredients, make sandwiches, and package meals!

Then at 7PM, the party begins! We'll have free lite bites to snack on, lots of board and card games to choose from and play, and a photo booth to capture all the fun!

We'll top off the night with a Karaoke Roulette Competition! Sign up to sing and compete for a silly little prize! When it’s your turn to take the stage, you’ll get a randomly chosen song to perform. Give us your best performance and have fun with it! The audience will choose the winner! Sign up to perform at 7PM, and the karaoke will begin at 7:30PM.

We're so excited to celebrate this milestone amongst community! 5 years of creating spaces for and with you all has been an honor and a priviledge, and we can't wait for what's coming next! Entry to the event is completely free. Basically Wonderful is fundraising to raise $500 in honor of our 5th birthday, to help sustain the ongoing community initiatives and peer-led spaces we have created. Please consider donating as you RSVP if you are able -- all donations will go to BW to continue supporting our Queer, Trans, and Disabled commmunity. There will also be a variety or art and small goods for sale during the event as another way for you to contribute. Thank you for your continued support!

Venue and Accessibility Info:

The event address is: 316 E Marks St, Orlando, FL (Quakers of Orlando). You are permitted to park in the lot on the premises. If the lot were to fill up, you can find street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. There is a pull-through driveway in front of the meeting house main entrance that can be used for drop-offs or loading/unloading before parking your vehicle.

Masks are required while indoors and not eating/drinking. We will have various KN-95 and N-95 masks available for folks who need them! There will be tables set up outside for guests to step away to if desired. There will be an air purifier running indoors.

We will be making pb & j sandwiches and a vegan blackbean soup during food prep. Guests are welcome to a serving of food before it is delivered to the fridge. We will also be serving lite bites for all guests after 7PM, and there will be vegan and gluten free options available.

The venue does use bright overhead lighting that cannot be dimmed. We hope to bring our own ambient lighting to help compensate.

The venue's front doorway is technically wheelchair accessible, though some guests have reported that they find the doorways to be a bit narrow. The event hall itself is a wide open room with plenty of walkways. There are two restrooms; one with a narrow stall, and one that is meant to be wheelchair accessible with grab bars next to the toilet. The hallway to the bathroom is quite narrow and may be harder to navigate with a wider mobility device.

We will have music playing at a moderate-low level throughout the duration of the event. The noise level will likely be higher when the karaoke begins. We will have earplugs, hand fans, and small fidgets available to help adjust to sensory needs.
