Bandsaw Milling 101 – An Introduction to Milling Lumber with a Bandsaw

Turn logs into usable lumber in this one-day, hands-on introduction to bandsaw milling. This course covers everything from the basics of how a bandsaw mill works to choosing logs, handling material safely, and making that all-important first cut. You’ll learn about the different types of mills and blades, how to set up your milling area, and how to plan out a log to maximize yield and minimize waste. Participants will also explore the unique opportunities that come with saving special trees, producing live-edge slabs, cookies, and timbers, and preparing lumber for proper drying.
