Hold up, Creatives...don't just download a contract from the Internet!
Join Band of Bards for this two-hour workshop for creating your own custom contract that works with the laws in New York State, as well as federal copyright and trademark laws.This workshop will focus on developing a template that promotes your values, your vision for your work, and how you get paid. We will also discuss important things like insurance, intellectual property, AI, and using contracts to set the tone for a positive relationship with customers.
This workshop will be led by Stephanie "Cole" Adams, a Buffalo attorney who advises creative professionals as well as libraries throughout New York. Cole is a former intern at the Comic Book Llegal Defense Fund, past trustee of the Freedom to Read Foundation, a member of the American Library Association' "Lawyers for Librarians" (L4L) faculty, and a member of the federal First Amendment Lawyers Association (FALA). She advises her clients on risk management, safety planning, real estate, and employment matters, as well as business formations and contracts. She is also a self-published cartoonist, former fencing referee, and current beekeeper.
