Baltimore 311 Community Workshop: Understanding and Using City Services
Overview
Have you used the 311 system before? Maybe you've heard of it or downloaded the app, but aren't sure how to use the system most effectively.
This workshop will offer an introduction to what Baltimore’s 311 system is, how it works, and how it can be used to make neighborhoods cleaner, greener, and safer.
Participants will learn about the different types of 311 requests the city handles and how to submit a request through the phone line, website, or mobile app. The session covers how to choose the right service category, along with helpful tips for tracking requests, following up, and understanding what to do when a request is marked “closed” but the issue still needs attention.
Attendees will also learn about how 311 data is collected and used by city agencies to support citywide sustainability goals, such as reporting overgrown vacant lots, illegal dumping, and storm drain blockages. Attendees will also learn about how neighborhoods can use 311 trends and data to advocate for greener investments and stronger city services.
Designed for community leaders and residents, this workshop empowers participants to become informed, confident users of Baltimore’s 311 system and active partners in improving their communities.
