Is this event all ages?

Yes. La Peña is all ages cultural center with minors under adult supervision.

Is La Peña wheelchair accessible?

Yes. All public areas of our cultural center are wheelchair accessible, with step-less entry, wide doorways, and accessible restrooms. Note: dance floors are common areas that can become very full and crowded throughout the night.

How can I get to La Peña via public transit?

Bus: The 18 bus line stops directly across the street (Shattuck & Woolsey). Ashby BART is two 2 blocks away. Street parking is available but very limited. Bike racks are available on our block.

Are gender-neutral restrooms available?

Yes. La Peña has three all-gender restrooms available to the public.

How do I share my access need?

If you have specific accessibility needs or accomodations please email programs@Lapena.org with the subject line "Accessibility Request - [Event Name]" at least one week before the event. We believe access is collective care.

Feel the rhythms of Brazil right here in Berkeley! Join us on Sunday, November 9 at 4pm at La Peña Cultural Center for Baile Brasil, a night of live music and dance featuring Oakland Samba Revue (OSR) and a special dance lesson with Weslei Guimarães.

OSR brings a powerful mix of samba de gafieira, forró, funk, jazz, and bolero. With a full horn section, three vocalists, and original arrangements, their unique sound fills the dance floor with energy and joy.

Kick off the evening with a dance class led by Weslei Guimarães, a celebrated dance instructor from Rio de Janeiro. His classes are accessible, vibrant, and designed to get everyone moving.
