Overview

Drop-in workshop session from 10-16 h to do arts, crafts, and/or writing to create a zine for/about Bacup together. All skill levels!

Dates: Saturdays 22 Nov 2025 (& 10 Jan 2026) - Bacup Zine workshop at the Rose room of the ABD Centre in Bacup (Lancashire) (drop-in any time between 10-16 h):

This is a workshop for people in/around Bacup to create a zine together about/for Bacup. A zine is a small, handmade, and self-published booklet or magazine made at a low cost, often using a regular photocopier.

This workshop is for adults, and for children age 10 and older (under 16s need to be accompanied). (This website didn't allow me to set age to 10+, so that's why it says 12+ there. But it's 10+.)

Participants of this workshop can explore Bacup's history, current events, ambitions, heritage, and dreams in the works they create whether this is by making sketches, illustrations, paintings, using watercolour, acrylic paint, or collage, digital photography using your own smartphone or your own camera, scrap booking, writing poetry or prose.

This is a fantastic workshop for people to try their hand at something they may not have done before or not in a long time, to meet new people, to learn from others, and to contribute to something they can feel proud of. I will provide lots of ideas in case you need some help to get started, but please feel free to bring your own idea(s)!

All tools and materials will be provided, and there will also be refreshments. This is a FREE workshop, and you are welcome to attend one or both sessions. Just come along, have a snack, and do some crafting and/or writing. Do not worry about your skill level, everyone is welcome! No need to sign up, just turn up!

Printed copies of the zine will be available within 3 weeks after the second session, to be picked up for FREE from The ABD Centre and the Bacup Museum. A digital version will be accessible online for FREE, check back on this website to find a link to it.

Free parking on the surrounding streets.
