About this event

In this portion of the event, Glenn from Kress Farms will lead a class on composting and share insights into how Kress Farms establishes and maintains their gardens.

Learn how to turn kitchen scraps and yard waste into “black gold”! Participants will explore the basics of composting and how to create nutrient-rich soil to nourish their gardens. Topics will include the science of decomposition, what materials to use (and what to avoid), composting methods suitable for different spaces, and practical tips for keeping compost systems healthy and odor-free.

By the end of the session, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to start your own compost system—whether it’s a backyard bin, a small-space setup, or a worm bin (vermicomposting). Composting is one of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce waste, care for the earth, and grow thriving, resilient plants.
