  • Event lasts 2 days 7 hours

During the workshop, participants will learn about what warning signs to look for related to violence risk and what immediate actions to take related to follow up and documentation. Participants will also learn about general principles of risk assessment and management and in the use of the Historical-Clinical-Risk Management-20 Version 3 (HCR-20 V3) for assessing and managing risk for general violence.

Day 1 Triaging for violence risk

  • Focuses on identifying warning signs for violence risk and prioritizing cases and immediate actions for violence prevention
  • Includes administration of the AVRT

Day 2 Principles of violence risk assessment and management

  • Principles of violence risk assessment, focusing on Structured Professional Judgment (SPJ) approaches
  • Principles of violence risk management, focusing on risk formulation and scenario planning

Day 3 Assessing and managing risk for general violence

  • Focuses on general or “typical” violence, including that committed by people with mental health, personality, or substance use problems
  • Includes administration of the HCR-20 V3

**Montgomery County ADAMHS contracted providers will be given preference.

CEUs:

Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services has been approved by:

the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board to offer continuing education credit hours (Provider #RCS111304 and RTX012515) and has approved this training for 18 hours (continuing) CEUs;

The Ohio Board of Nursing will accept a continuing education activity that has been approved by a board or an agency that regulates a health care profession or related discipline in Ohio including the Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Information regarding continuing education requirements is available on the OBN website here.

Other licensing boards may also accept these hours, however it is the attendee’s responsibility to establish this prior to attending.
