Avoiding Conflict with Alligators, Sharks, and Panthers -- Oh my!
Overview
Welcome to the Avoiding Conflict with Alligators, Sharks, and Panthers--Oh my! speaker series presentation! Join us on Friday, February 20 at 4:00 PM at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) Visitor Education Center to learn about some of Florida's most impressive species. Sanibel author Charles Sobczak is once again putting his unique sense of eco-humor to work in this amusing look at Florida’s three top predators. Using information gleaned from his award-winning title, Alligators, Sharks & Panthers—Deadly Encounters with Florida’s Top Predator: Man, Sobczak quickly informs the audience how the likelihood of being attacked, let alone eaten, by any of these animals is extremely remote. Given that fact, he also explains ways by which everyone can lower their risk even further. The lecture also explores the evolutionary biology that makes our new-world predators markedly less aggressive than their old-world counterparts. He concludes the presentation with a look at the real threats facing us all moving forward: Pandemics, overpopulation, climate change, nuclear war, and tribalism.
About the speaker: Charles Sobczak is an award winning author who lives on Sanibel Island. His books cover a wide array of topics and genres, from novels to nature guides. In addition to writing, he has become a featured lecturer throughout South Florida and has presented with numerous organizations, including CROW!
