About this event
Join me for an Autumn wreath workshop and reading to celebrate the arrival of the season at The Tower, an iconic venue at the heart of Portobello Beach, Edinburgh.
In this two-hour workshop, we will celebrate the arrival of Mabon, the Autumn Equinox, as I bring the pages of my best-selling book, Slow Seasons, to life for you.
As we settle into the cosy surroundings of The Tower Portobello, with its beautiful views across the Firth of Forth and Arthur's Seat, we will spend a joyful morning of wreath-making together: a perfect opportunity to slow down and connect with the season and create a beautiful seasonal wreath to take with you ready to decorate your home.
We will start with a reading from Slow Seasons before I demonstrate how to make an Autumn wreath with beautiful foliage from Edinburgh’s Ochre Botanical Studios, before you make your own.
Whether you're an experienced wreath-maker or a total beginner, I will provide step-by-step instructions and all the necessary craft materials to help you make a reusable wreath base decorated with textural foliage, Autumn leaves and other decorative elements such as berries and seedheads grown locally at Ochre's gorgeous garden in North Edinburgh or sourced from their network of local growers.
I’m an experienced workshop leader and am excited to help you learn how to create projects such as this in your own homes as well as share lots of tips and tricks about how to slow down and connect with nature and the seasons.
The workshop will run from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on 11th October - a chance to gather with like-minded folks, learn new skills and get inspired for the cosy seasons.
Places are limited, so book your place now to avoid missing out.
Accessibility: the venue is in a historic tower house with spiral staircases. Unfortunately there is no lift to the event space and no step-free access.
About the Author:
Rosie embraced slow living and found solace in the nature-centric traditions of the Celtic Wheel of the Year after suffering with her mental health. She set up her newsletter and platform on Instagram (@everythinglooksrosie) as a place to track small moments of joy through the seasons and fostered a loyal following in the process. She lives and works in Edinburgh.
About the Venue:
The Tower Portobello dates back to 1785 and is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Portobello. The iconic Gothic building is a well-known local feature seen from the Promenade and has served many purposes over the years, including a summerhouse, a hotel, engineering works and fruit and veg merchants. It was recently meticulously restored and is now a beautiful event venue at Edinburgh’s seaside.
About the Materials:
Ochre Botanical Studios is a micro flower farm and floristry studio in Edinburgh. The collective of six florists provides floral and styling services and installations for events, weddings and more. They use flowers grown at their plot in Granton Castle Walled Garden and from their network of local growers. Ochre also host seasonal workshops at the garden and other venues in Edinburgh.
