Event description
Have a drink with All Iowa Reads author, Nickolas Butler - Sat., Aug. 7 at 6pm - hear from his newest book, Godspeed, in Raygun's mezzanine.

About this event

Storyhouse will be chatting in-person with Nick about his forthcoming book, Godspeed (releases July 27) in Raygun's mezzanine. Nick will be staying to sign all your books too.

Grab a $5 ticket online or at Storyhouse - this will cover a micro-brew from Peace Tree Brewing to sip during the event (NA drinks available too). Option to pre-order your book with the ticket available.

Those of us who grew up in the Midwest and have read some of Nick's greatest hits (Shotgun Lovesongs, Little Faith ...) know that his writing deeply connects to the land and the people in these rural places we call home. This is likely why his 2019 novel, Little Faith, was chosen by The State Library of Iowa as the All Iowa Reads title this year. Though Godspeed is his first novel set outside of Wisconsin in the odd beauty of the mountains of Wyoming, it holds fast to the same groundedness of land and people - but come prepared for more of a heart-pounding page-turner than you've read from him before.

Vaccinated? Masks encouraged. Not vaccinated? Masks required.

About Nickolas Butler:

Nick is the internationally bestselling author of the novels Shotgun Lovesongs, The Hearts of Men, and Little Faith, and the story collection Beneath the Bonfire. Butler is the recipient of multiple literary prizes and commendations and has published articles, reviews, short stories, and poetry in publications such as Ploughshares, Narrative, and The New York Times Book Review, among others. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, he now lives with his wife and two children on sixteen acres of land in rural Wisconsin.

About Godspeed:

Why is it being built here, and why so quickly? These are the questions Cole, Bart, and Teddy, the three principals of True Triangle Construction, ask themselves when they are hired to finish a project for a mysteriously wealthy homeowner. Nestled in the mountains outside of Jackson, Wyoming, the house is a masterpiece, unlike anything they’ve done before. Once finished, it promises to be the architectural prize of Jackson and could put True Triangle on the map. But despite the project’s lure, the owner is intent on having it built in a matter of months, an impossible task made irresistible by the exorbitant bonus that awaits them if they succeed. A bonus that could change the course of their business, and their lives.
