Austrian Again: The Power of Belonging

By The Embassy of Austria

Overview

The Embassy of Austria is proud to present a book talk with author and restored Austrian citizen Anne Hand.

Join us at the Embassy of Austria on Wednesday, November 13, at 7:00 PM for an evening with Anne Hand, author of Austrian Again.

In her captivating memoir, Anne Hand explores her family’s hidden history during the Holocaust while navigating the path to Austrian citizenship through reparation laws. Through her deeply personal journey, she uncovers stories of resilience, identity, and heritage, reflecting on the ways history shapes both personal and collective memory.

Anne will share her experiences tracing her Austrian and Czechoslovakian roots, the bureaucratic and emotional journey of reclaiming a lost heritage, and the reflections that emerged along the way. This conversation promises insight into the power of memory, the meaning of belonging, and the legacy of history in modern life.

A discussion will follow, giving attendees the opportunity to engage with Anne about her writing, research, and reflections on heritage and identity.
