The workshop will provide participants with information and strategies related to augmentative and alternative communication devices (AAC) and supports from no or low tech to high tech. Content will include progress monitoring for AT supports as well as goal writing that supports use of assistive technology across settings. Participants will also take part in hands-on instruction and trialing of AT devices.

Anticipated Outcomes

  • Participants will demonstrate understanding of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and supports from no or low tech to high tech in the educational setting.
  • Participants will understand the importance of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices consideration and decision making as a requirement under IDEA for students with IEP services.
  • Participants will demonstrate ability to accurately monitor progress and write goals regarding augmentative and alternative communication devices (AAC).
