The workshop is a two-day event for music creators, producers, and engineers who want to sharpen their skills while connecting with others who share their passion for heavy music. Join Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, We Came As Romans, Attack Attack!, Of Mice & Men) and Eric Emery (Blink-182, Yellowcard, Alice Cooper, Alkaline Trio) for an intimate, hands-on experience focused on the art of modern rock and metal production.
Day 1 kicks off with a casual evening mixer where you can meet Joey, Eric, and other attendees over drinks and snacks, swap stories, and make real connections in the LA audio community.
Day 2 dives deep into the creative process with an immersive masterclass centered on drum recording, vocal production, and the techniques that give today’s heavy records their punch and polish.
Whether you’re refining your mix workflow, exploring new production ideas, or growing your network, this is all about inspiration, collaboration, and taking your skills to the next level.
The workshop takes place in one of Los Angeles’s most inspiring recording spaces. Emery Recording Studio is a massive live room with 25-foot ceilings and decades of rock history. Once home to New Kids on the Block, the studio now hosts sessions with today’s most recognizable names in rock and metal.
Producer Eric Emery’s credits include artists like Blink-182, Yellowcard, Alice Cooper, Alkaline Trio, Sevendust’s Morgan Rose, Chris Adler (formerly of Lamb of God), members of Stevie Wonder’s touring group, As I Lay Dying, Five Finger Death Punch, and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. The space is loaded with world-class gear, from a Sony C800 vocal mic to vintage Marshall, Soldano, Mesa, Peavey, Orange, and Ampeg amps. Drum tracking is powered by high-end Pearl Masters kits and a legendary ’80s Bell Brass snare, all running through top-tier Neve, SSL, and API gear.
Every detail of this studio is designed for powerful, detailed sound and is the perfect environment to learn, create, and capture the energy of modern rock and metal production.
