🔹 Session A
Data Science Education for High School Students
Jonathan M Smith and Jun Han
College of Science and Technology
Temple University

Data is everywhere, and learning to analyze, model, and interpret it builds critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This workshop introduces data science through hands-on, web-based examples and teaching insights from Temple University’s Elements of Data Science program and summer STEM curriculum. Participants will explore classroom-ready activities and curricular ideas with examples drawn from ecology, chemistry, statistics, and environmental science.

🔹 Session B
Digging into Data: Teaching Data Science
Rachael Gorsuch and Ashley Beckett
Math and Data Science Teachers
Teays Valley High School

Join us for this interactive session as we dig into data with the data cycle! The data cycle is the heart of any Data Science course. We’ll take time to explore developing statistical questions, collecting data, determining if that data needs to be cleaned, analyzing, and finally interpreting our data. We'll examine both large and small datasets, offering practical strategies and classroom-ready examples to equip you and your students with real-world data literacy. Bring your curiosity and we’ll bring the engagement.
