Atlatl Open Range Day
By Dallas County Conservation Board
Overview
Take a step back in time to try your hand at target practice using a hunting technology which dates back thousands of years.
Participants are welcome to come and go throughout the 2-hour window that the range is open. The atlatl is a spear-throwing tool which was used to hunt prehistoric megafauna such as wooly mammoths and mastodons. Learn about the history of this tool and some of the large animals which used to roam this area, then learn how to use it on the atlatl range!
