Join Little Forks Conservancy and LFC board member, Ryan Weiss, for an astronomy hike at the George and Sue Lane Preserve on Friday, October 17th at 7 p.m! Learn more about our night sky and solar system and why darkness matters in conservation at this 270-acre preserve in Gladwin, Michigan, far from nearby light pollution. Attendees will hike a half mile to the viewing area within the preserve and will hike back to the trailhead following the program – overall, about 1 mile of hiking on rustic grass and dirt trails. Spots are limited to 25, so make sure to reserve your spot!
What to Bring: Attendees should dress for hiking in colder temperatures and bring a lawn chair. Attendees should also bring headlamps and/or flashlights, with red-filtered light if possible. Red cellophane will be provided by the Conservancy for those without red-filtered lights.
Location: The George and Sue Lane Preserve, which is located off of M-18 in Gladwin. Attendees will park in the main lot located on N Shearer Road. For directions on Google Maps, visit the link here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/65i1Y6Fmtp7UaeGT7
