This workshop will discuss how to properly assess and identify Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders from other environmental factors, social considerations, interpersonal differences and/or diagnoses. Many students are identified under Other Health Impairment due to ADHD symptoms; however, there are so many more factors and considerations that need to be considered with these complex cases. Being able to tease out the root causes of attentional challenges is essential for treatment considerations. The question also becomes what level of supports do these students require (504/IEP) and what kind of supports will address the needs of the student. This workshop will also discuss best practice strategies with regard to supports and counseling services for students with ADHD symptoms.
