About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Jen Swanson has been thinking about how to measure and accelerate the maturity of product organizations for more than a decade, and now she has a model to support it. In this session, she’ll walk through the four dimensions of product operating model maturity (Leadership, Ecosystems, Talent, and Systems) and give attendees a high-level guide to think about how to measure the maturity of their product organizations. And for the stats nerds in the house, she’ll share a secret tip: No organization can get more than one standard deviation in maturity in any of these dimensions without the whole thing falling apart. Curious about why? Attend the session and find out!

Key Takeaways:

  • Understand the four dimensions of Product Operating Model Maturity
  • Understand the stages of Maturity and how organizations advance along the maturity “hockey stick”
  • Answer the question: why can’t an org mature more or less than one standard deviation in any dimension without the whole thing falling apart?

Jen Swanson is obsessed with helping companies reimagine how work can get done as tech and consumer expectations seem to change at the speed of light. She helps companies of all shapes and sizes transform to modern ways of working but has a particular passion for working with large, legacy, highly regulated organizations that are usually passed over for being too old, too structured, or too “whatever” to transform.

Jen’s work leading project-to-product transformations are the focus of the boutique consultancy she founded in 2023, Tuckpoint Advisory Group, and the independent consulting she started in 2019. Her client-side career spans more than 20 years in customer advocacy, marketing technology, and service channel operations across the higher education and healthcare sectors. She’s seen it all – been there, done that, has the t-shirts.

Jen is also a tireless community connector and power networker, helping product people around the country find the right connections for their careers, passions, and projects. She believes that a rising tide lifts all boats and loves being a part of a vibrant professional community that knows there’s enough work to go around if we can keep supporting each other to do more and do it better, together. She’s an active volunteer with the Irondale High School FIRST Robotics Team (#2052 Knightkrawlers) and a board member for Adopt A Classroom. She lives in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN with her husband, two teenage sons, and two tuxedo cats, Jinx and Bear.
