About this event

This three-day course is an intense study of hoists by instructor Dave Carmack: what makes them tick, and how to test them and abide by regulations. Students will take a test at the end of the course and will receive a certificate of completion upon passing.

This program goes beyond the traditional and offers a personal assessment. You will spend 2 days studying the ASME B 30.16 (Overhead Underhung and Stationary Hoists) and ANSI E 1.6-2 2020 Industrial Safety Standards, common and accepted field practices and troubleshooting techniques. You can become a HOIST WHISPERER.

  • You will completely open up a hoist to get hands-on experience with everything that was discussed in diagrams and pictures.
  • You will be taught troubleshooting techniques in creative and realistic scenarios.
  • You will dive deep into standards, regulations, and common market practices, to gain intimate knowledge of how and why these exist.
  • You will learn the importance of load- testing and record- keeping, and how to do so.

Dave began his career November 7, 1978 at Columbus McKinnon in Abingdon, Virginia at the hoist manufacturing plant. His tenure included 20 years of hoist manufacturing before moving to the Damascus, Virginia Facility and served as a Product Design Engineer Technician and Product Engineering for another 10 years. He finished out his career at CM as Global Entertainment Product Trainer. Dave has traveled well over a million miles teaching tens of thousands of students on six of the seven continents and has earned the respect of the ET Market.

Dave is an ETCP Recognized Trainer and the company has been approved as an ETCP Recognized Training Program. Attendees who are ETCP Certified will receive 1 credit per hour of training.
