What to Expect
Join the ASID Student Chapter at Sacramento State for our 1st Annual Design Charette hosted by Designers Only. Work in small teams, pull from the showroom’s material library, and create a fast, compelling concept—then pitch your solution to peers and industry guest judges.
Theme
This semester’s charette theme explores the intersection of home, work, and community — challenging participants to design a human-centered ‘third space’ that fosters belonging and well-being. The full prompt will be revealed at the event!
Agenda
- 12:00–12:15 PM Check-in, team formation, brief
- 12:15–2:15 PM Work session + access to samples
- 2:15–2:45 PM Pin-up & 2-minute team presentations
- 2:45–3:00 PM Feedback + wrap
Deliverables (simple + fast)
- 1 concept statement (2–3 sentences)
- 1 quick bubble/plan sketch (marker or pencil)
- 1 mini materials board (pull from samples; return after photos)
- Optional: 1 mood image on your phone for reference
Judging & Feedback
Industry guest judges will share quick feedback on:
- Clarity of concept
- Function & flexibility
- Material story & feasibility
- Presentation clarity
Who Can Attend
Current Sacramento State Interior Architecture students. Limited to 16; please cancel if you can’t make it so the waitlist can be used.
What to Bring
Participants should bring any materials they’ll need to create their design concepts, including:
- Tracing paper or sketch paper
- Architectural or engineering scales
- Markers, pencils, pens, or other drawing tools
- Tape, scissors, or other lightweight supplies they prefer to work with
We’ll have access to the showroom’s material samples and presentation surfaces, but all personal drafting and sketching materials should be brought by participants.

Photo & Materials Policy
Photos will be taken for chapter social media. By attending, you consent to non-commercial use. All showroom samples must be returned after photos.
