Description

Leveraging Translational Informatics for the Advancement of Drug Discovery & Improved Clinical Outcomes

Moving from the initial stages of target identification to an approved drug remains a significant challenge for biopharmaceutical companies. For academic consortiums, optimizing the translation of basic discoveries into practical clinical applications requires innovative approaches. In order to achieve actionable insights, translational research teams need access to massive volumes of disease-specific and population-level genetic data, as well as patient-level data collected from electronic health records and clinical trials.

Learn how large-scale clinical programs, such as the NIH’s All of Us, are generating whole genome sequencing data for more than 1 million individuals to accelerate health research and medical breakthroughs. The Baylor College of Medicine Human Genome Sequencing Center (HGSC) and its partners CIDR and UTHSC, one of three All of Us genome centers chosen to generate clinical grade genomic data from the program’s participants, will discuss the methodology for data analysis and collaboration around petabyte-scale genomic and phenotypic data.

In addition, hear how MedImmune’s R&D team is solving the challenge of leveraging massive volumes of combined clinical and genomic data to accelerate discovery of highly qualified drug targets, identify biomarkers of disease progression and therapy response, and stratify patient populations for future clinical trials, all to inform clinical care and improve patient outcomes.

DNAnexus has developed a new enhanced platform providing researchers with a scalable cloud environment, flexible data models, and intuitive analysis and visualization tools to simplify research workflows for R&D teams globally. Working with clinical data requires specialized capabilities to maintain privacy; the enhanced platform leverages the same best-in-class DNAnexus security and privacy framework, which includes compliance in accordance with HIPAA, CLIA, GxP, and FedRAMP, among others.

Come learn more about the DNAnexus enhanced platform and hear how biopharma customer MedImmune and academic medical center, Baylor College of Medicine’s HGSC are leveraging massive volumes of biomedical data to gain better insights into biological, environmental and behavioral factors that influence health.

Guest Speakers:

  • David Fenstermacher, PhD, VP R&D Bioinformatics at MedImmune

  • William Salerno, PhD, Director Genome Informatics at Baylor College of Medicine Human Genome Sequencing Center

  • Brady Davis, VP, Strategy & Marketing at DNAnexus
