Due to popular demand, picnics are back! Please feel free to bring your picnic without any additional fees. However, outside alcohol is still not permitted, per the requirements of our California Alcohol Beverage Control license.

Weather

Guests are encouraged to dress in layers, as temperatures at the outdoor venue can fluctuate widely even within the same day. Cal Shakes provided blankets are available near the Bruns Entrance and are provided on a first come first service basis. Limited supply.

Question 3

Access to the Bruns

The Bruns will be open 2 hours before the performance for ticketed patrons.

Question 4

Parking and transportation

Accepted Answer

There is limited, free, and patrolled parking located at the entrance of the Bruns. Free ADA-accessible transportation is available from the parking area to the theater. Public transportation and carpooling is strongly encouraged. A free shuttle from the Orinda BART will also be available.

Question 5

Photography and Recording

Accepted Answer

Audience Members may take photos on the grounds and amphitheater before and after the performance. No professional cameras, detachable lenses or flash photography. Please note: Photos are strongly prohibited during the performance. Video recording is not permitted in Cal Shakes productions.

Question 6

No Dogs/Pets

Accepted Answer

The Bruns is located on protected watershed land; therefore all  animals (with the exception of qualified and trained service dogs) are prohibited by EBMUD. See 2018 Watershed Rules and Regulations XI. Sanitation 11.1 for more information.

Prohibited Items

Accepted Answer

Prohibited items include: All weapons and firearms, illegal drugs, recording devices (except cell phones), drones, noise making devices, fireworks, laser pointers, signs, flyers, posters, umbrellas, skateboards, roller skates, and gang-related symbols or clothing. All bags subject to search.

Question 8

No Open Flame

Accepted Answer

This includes: BBQs, candles, matches, incense, torches, or other instruments that use open flame, as designated by the Fire Marshall. Smoking is allowed in the designated area only.

Refunds and Discounts

Accepted Answer

All sales are final. For group discounts (10+ seats for the same performance), please contact the box office at boxoffice@calshakes.org. Limited number of student tickets are available. Must show valid student ID. One student ticket per ID.
