Description:
Join photographer Luke Erickson for an artist talk about his exhibition My Floating World: Views from Pacific Coast Highway.
Erickson’s portfolio draws inspiration from Katsushika Hokusai’s Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji and Ando Hiroshige’s Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road, reimagined through the lens of contemporary Southern California. A former Hollywood location scout, Erickson brings an insider’s access and an outsider’s eye to the mythic landscapes of Los Angeles and the Pacific Coast Highway — America’s Western Sea Road.
He will discuss his creative process, influences from Ed Ruscha and David Hockney, and how cinematic imagery and place-making inform his photographic vision.
