Artisan Sourdough Breadmaking
Overview
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own sourdough bread at home, starting from scratch? In this hands on class, we'll walk through the foundations of sourdough bread making using just a few ingredients - flour, water, salt, and time. Together we'll learn how wild fermentation works, how to mix and shape dough by hand, and how to read the dough as it rises. We will bake our loaves in a cob oven, using fire and earth as bakers have done for generations, and explore how this ancient method creates deeply flavorful and nourishing bread. You'll leave with a solid understanding of the sourdough process, the confidence to bake at home, and your own living sourdough starter to continue the practice.
This class is taught by Kayla, founder of The Rooted Table. Kayla is a baker, artist, and educator of traditional food practices. Her work is rooted in seasonal living, wild fermentation, and the belief that food is both nourishment and medicine. Through The Rooted Table, she creates gatherings that invite people back into relationship with their hands, their food, and the land.
