Overview

Get creative while learning how conservators preserve art. Designed for ages 6-11 and their caregivers.

Why do some paintings roll or fold instead of hang in frames? Find out in this hands-on family workshop for children ages 6–11. After a visit to the exhibit, Japanese Art from the Collection, families will learn how art conservators preserve paintings that are mounted on scrolls and screens. Inspired by the paintings on view, families will design and assemble their own hanging scrolls.

When registering, please register for one ticket per person (kids and adults). Based on limited capacity in the gallery and classroom, this will help give us an accurate count.

There are two sessions, each lasting about 1.5 hours. Please register for the session that would work best with your schedule.
