Overview

Get creative while learning how conservators preserve art. Designed for ages 6-11 and their caregivers.

Explore how light exposure can damage art in this interactive workshop for children ages 6–11 and their caregivers. Following a visit to Cut + Paste: Experimental Japanese Prints and Photographs, participants will conduct experiments to observe the effects of light on different paper samples and learn why some artworks need special protection. Families will create a collage inspired by the layered, cut-paper designs in the exhibition, then take it home to continue their investigation into how light affects art.

When registering, please register for one ticket per person (kids and adults). Based on limited capacity in the gallery and classroom, this will help give us an accurate count.

There are two sessions, each lasting about 1.5 hours. Please register for the session that would work best with your schedule.
