About this event

In this workshop, we will discuss art as a medium for use in helping express one's internal sense of self, and see how that can be used to communicate in ways words alone cannot. Participants will be guided through an exercise in using visual art to capture something inside them they wish to express. This workshop will be structured in a way that helps people process feelings in a way different than they can normally be expressed, whether it is something they want to creatively process just for themselves or something that they want to communicate to the world but don't have the words to.

Workshop Host:

I am Alaya Knowlton, a transgender artist, animator, and game developer. I've won multiple awards for my short films and paintings, I've been creating art all my life, and continually use it to express ideas in ways words cannot capture. I am finishing my last year as a student at USC Games, where I am currently working on a larger games project. I have continually been involved in LGBT activism throughout my life, pushing for freedom and liberation for our community in Florida and California.
