This installment of the art + architecture event series takes place at the modern, new Sycamore Park townomes in North Corktwn, during their Grand Finale Sale. The event will explore the interplay between art and architecture, focusing on the experimental concept of Castalia + Sfumato (pairing craft cocktails with botanical fragrances) and the modern design of the new residential development, Sycamore Park - itself a bold compliment to the North Corktown neighborhood.

About Our Special Guest: Dr. Kevin Peterson

Dr. Kevin Peterson's working life began in kitchens, ranging from fast food to fancy French. Eventually taking a more academic route, he received a BA in physics and Ph. D. in mechanical engineering, taking a combustion research job at General Motors and moving to Detroit in the early 2010's. After a stint in corporate research, he left to co-found Sfumato and Castalia, a perfumery and cocktail bar located in Detroit's Midtown neighborhood, where he is the Nose and resident Cocktail Scientist. While perfume, candles, cocktails, and spirits may seem like independent pursuits, the central component of all of them is the creation of sensory beauty, and a perfect moment. Kevin has spent the last decade of his life working towards the creation of perfect moments, and he'll share his insights and experiences. Kevin will be speaking on how scent, flavor, and the stories that surround them can be used as tools to foster human connection, with a focus on his time operating Castalia, as an owner, a bartender, and the chief cocktail scientist. Scented cocktails will be provided.
